St. John’s Flower Ministry is all about cheering and beautifying, starting with the altar vases and flower baskets which are part of our church service in the Sanctuary on Sunday mornings and on special holidays. These flowers hear our prayers, and listen to our music and our sermon. Our florist prepares seasonal arrangements that take on different meanings throughout our church calendar.
Our delivery volunteers are part of a participatory circle – we “recycle” cheer, hope and love. When donors want their flowers sent out after the service, team members deliver these flowers to shut-ins, hospitalized members, nursing home residents or to someone on our prayer list. Our team is dedicated and their efforts are both fulfilling and personally rewarding. Sometimes team members take along a bulletin, sit and chat, offer a prayer, a smile and even a hug.
We are always looking for more volunteers – if you want to join our team and can offer your service one Sunday a month, please see, call or e-mail Lois for more information. We can use your support and would appreciate your time.
If you want to order a flower vase (if date is available) or a basket (any Sunday except during Lent) for a special celebration, a remembrance, or to honor someone, please see, call or e-mail Lois. (Note: St. John’s observes a barren altar during Lent.)
Thank you for your support. The church office takes orders for Christmas poinsettias and Easter lilies that are not already part of the chancel setting (see Eagle Wings and the Sunday bulletins for more information).
In His Service,
Lois Weil Kaufman, St. John’s Flower Coordinator
